At Texas Equine, we believe horses shape more than just our riding—they shape our stories, our creativity, and the way we connect with the world around us. For this Artist Spotlight, we are proud to feature Hayley Gonzalez, whose life with horses spans continents, cultures, and now… canvas.
Originally from the stunning countryside of North Yorkshire, England, Hayley now calls Texas home. She lives just outside of Farmersville with her husband, where together they run a custom cabinet business. Hayley is not just behind the scenes—she is hands-on in the workshop, balancing craftsmanship with creativity in more ways than one.
A Life Rooted in Horses
Hayley’s love for horses began early, inspired by her mother’s lifelong passion. From the very beginning, horses were not just part of her life—they were a constant thread woven through every chapter.
Her childhood took her across the world, offering experiences few riders ever have. In Kuwait, she spent her days at the local saddle club, riding Arabian horses alongside her mother. Later, while living in Africa, she rode native Nigerian horses, exploring the bushland behind her home with a sense of freedom that defined her early connection to riding. Those rides weren’t just about horsemanship—they were about discovery, independence, and a deep bond with the natural world.

As a teenager, Hayley returned to England, where her riding evolved into competition. She found her stride in dressage and cross country, disciplines that continue to influence her appreciation for balance, movement, and partnership.
A Legacy That Continues
Today, Hayley is a mother of three, and while each of her children has followed their own path, the presence of horses remains part of their story. Her youngest stayed connected to riding, while her older children pursued motocross—proof that a love for movement and adrenaline runs in the family.
One especially meaningful detail speaks to the depth of her equine journey: her son’s first pony is still thriving at 37 years old, living at her mother’s farm in England. It’s a powerful reminder that the relationships we build with horses are not temporary—they are lifelong.

Rediscovering a Creative Passion
Art has always been quietly present in Hayley’s life. As an only child who moved frequently, she often turned to drawing and painting to fill her time. It became a constant—something she could carry with her no matter where life took her.
Like many, life eventually grew busy. Work, family, and responsibilities took priority,
and art was set aside.
Until recently.
With a renewed sense of purpose, Hayley returned to her creative roots—this time with intention. She began researching high-quality materials, studying techniques, and allowing herself the time to explore what her art could become.

Finding Her Medium
Hayley is especially drawn to the detail and realism of colored pencil work, appreciating the patience and precision it requires. However, she quickly realized that some pieces demanded something bigger—something bolder.
That discovery led her to charcoal on canvas.
Her first charcoal piece, titled Eclipse, marked a turning point. Entered into the Texas Equine art show, it represents both a new medium and a new level of artistic confidence. Working on a larger scale has opened the door to even more creative possibilities, and she continues to explore surfaces and styles that allow her vision to grow.
A Standout in the 2026 Art Show
Hayley’s growth as an artist was on full display in the 2026 Spring Equine Expression & Heritage Art Show, where she submitted four entries—each one showcasing her dedication, skill, and unique perspective.
Her work stood out in a powerful way, earning her the High Point Award in her division.
This recognition reflects not only her technical ability, but also the authenticity behind her work. Every piece she creates is rooted in lived experience—years spent riding, observing, and understanding horses on a level that goes far beyond the surface.
Art Inspired by Connection
For Hayley, horses are not just a subject—they are the inspiration behind everything she creates.

That connection is evident in her work. There is a depth and emotion that comes from truly knowing the animal—not just how it looks, but how it moves, feels, and communicates. Her art captures more than an image—it captures a relationship.
Looking Ahead
Hayley’s artistic journey is just beginning.
She hopes to expand into portrait work and commissioned pieces, while continuing to experiment with larger-scale designs and new mediums. With so many ideas already taking shape, her future as an artist is full of possibilities.
We look forward to seeing more from Hayley in future shows and beyond.
A Story Worth Celebrating
Hayley’s story is one of movement, creativity, and reconnection—values that reflect the heart of Texas Equine. Her journey reminds us that passions don’t disappear—they wait for the right moment to return.
And when they do, they often come back stronger than ever.
