At Texas Equine Education & Horsemanship, we believe that success in the show ring begins long before stepping into the arena. It is built through preparation, precision, and a true understanding of both horse and rider. Our Show Ring Experience is designed for riders who are ready to take that next step—refining their skills and preparing for real competition in a structured, supportive environment.
This comprehensive, multi-day training program is tailored for riders who already have a foundation and are ready to advance. Combining elements of western riding and classical dressage, the program focuses on technical riding, presentation, and performance—key components that define success in the show ring.

Throughout the experience, riders work to refine their position, improve communication with the horse, and develop accuracy through patterns and dressage-style tests. Instruction places a strong emphasis on arena geometry, transitions, and overall ride quality. Riders learn not just what to do, but how and why each movement matters—building consistency,
confidence, and a polished performance.

Beyond riding, participants gain valuable hands-on experience in the details that often make the difference in competition. From grooming and tack preparation to effective warm-up routines and post-ride horse care, riders develop a complete understanding of what it takes to present both themselves and their horse at a high level. Pattern memorization is practiced both on foot and in the saddle, reinforcing learning from multiple perspectives and strengthening rider awareness.
The program is intentionally progressive, with each day building on the last. This structure allows riders to refine their skills step by step while gaining confidence in their ability to execute under pressure. Small group sizes ensure individualized instruction, while observing peers provides additional learning opportunities and insight.
The experience culminates in a mock horse show, where riders perform in a realistic competition setting. Participants ride for a judge, receive scored evaluations, and gain individualized feedback—an invaluable opportunity to apply everything they have learned in a true show environment. Each rider is awarded a Texas Equine Show Ring polo, a certificate of completion, and a placement ribbon to recognize their achievement.
