It all started with one horse.

From Horsewoman to Educator
As Shelby gained experience in the equine industry, her passion increasingly centered on education—not simply teaching people how to ride, but helping them understand horses.

She saw that horsemanship could be used to teach far more than riding skills. Horses could inspire curiosity. They could build confidence and responsibility. They could create opportunities for hands-on learning and give people of different ages, abilities, backgrounds, and goals a place to belong.

That philosophy became the foundation for Texas Equine Education & Horsemanship.

What began with one horse gradually grew into a place where students could learn about horses from the ground up—where riding is only one part of a much larger education.

Where Horses Inspire Learning
Today, Texas Equine serves children, teens, adults, families, and members of the community through horsemanship instruction, equine education, experiential learning, volunteer opportunities, special programs, and community outreach.

Some students come because they dream of riding.

Some want to learn how to care for horses.

Some are preparing for a future in the equine industry.

Some simply want the opportunity to experience horses for the first time.

Whatever brings someone through our gates, our goal is the same: to create meaningful learning experiences built on knowledge, safety, respect, and the horse-human relationship.

That is why our motto is:
Where Horses Inspire Learning.™

Because at Texas Equine, the horse isn't simply part of the lesson.

The horse is what makes the lesson possible.

A Logo With a Story
Even our logo carries a piece of where we began.

The horse represented in the Texas Equine logo is Ginger—the horse who started it all. Beside her is the human figure, representing the relationship between horse and person that remains at the heart of everything we do.

It is more than a logo. It is a reminder of our beginning, the trust that develops between horse and human, and the responsibility we have to the horses who make our work possible.

As Texas Equine continues to grow, that foundation remains unchanged.

New horses have joined the herd. New students have walked through the gates. New programs have been created, and new dreams continue to take shape.

But every chapter of our story can still be traced back to the same place:
one young girl, one remarkable horse, and a relationship that changed everything.

And more than twenty years later, Ginger is still teaching.

And Shelby is still learning.

Long before Texas Equine Education & Horsemanship™ had a name, a program, or a place in the community, there was a young girl and a horse named Ginger.

Ginger came into Shelby Williams’ life when Shelby was young, and what began as a love for one horse grew into something much bigger. Like so many young equestrians, Shelby learned to ride—but the lessons Ginger taught her went far beyond the saddle. She learned responsibility, patience, perseverance, confidence, and what it means to earn the trust of a horse.

More than two decades later, Ginger is still part of the Texas Equine family. She has watched Shelby grow from a young horsewoman into an equine educator, certified therapeutic riding instructor, and the founder of Texas Equine Education & Horsemanship. And, in many ways, she has been there for every chapter in between.
